TAMPA, Florida – Gonzaga women's tennis was outlasted 4-3 by South Florida on Wednesday at USF's Varsity Tennis Courts.

Ella Nielsen were defeated 6-2, snapping the duo's four-match winning streak and dropping their record to 5-2 when paired up this season.
As the dual moved to singles, USF tied the overall match 1-1 by downing Nielsen 6-2, 6-3. The Bulldogs took a 3-1 lead with wins by Espinal (6-1, 6-3) and Hesham (7-5, 7-6 (2)).
The Bulls, however, recovered, withstanding Robertson (7-6, 6-3), Boulonois (7-6 (8), 4-6, 6-2), and Hayes (6-3, 6-7, 6-4) in tight contests to clinch the overall match.

MATCH NOTES
- GU women's tennis is now 7-6 this dual season, with wins over Michigan State, Eastern Washington, New Mexico State, New Mexico, Air Force, Montana, and Seattle.
- The Bulldogs, who opened the season 5-1, are also 5-1 at Stevens Center, with the lone defeat coming to Washington on Feb. 9.
- Before this weekend, Gonzaga was coming off its first two 4-0 victories of the season, beating Montana (Feb. 28) and Seattle (March 2) at home.
- The Zags are now 2-3 in road matches and 0-2 at a neutral site.
- USF is now 5-9 this season and on a four-dual winning streak.
