SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's soccer fell to Air Force, 2-0, at Luger Field Thursday.
The Bulldogs controlled 52 percent of the possession in the match and outshot the Falcons 17-10. But it was Air Force (1-3-1) that took advantage of its chances for the road victory. GU also had a slim 7-6 edge in shots on goal and 11-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Falcons' Annika Jost found the back of the net for the first time this season in the 12
th minute. Kendall Rippley and Chase Borntreger recorded assists on the goal. Borntreger sealed the win with a bending shot from distance that curled into the top right corner in the 83
rd minute.
Michaela McCollum made four saves for the Zags (2-3-0), while Kylie McElroy was forced into seven saves in the Air Force net.
Gonzaga visits Utah Valley (2-2-1) Monday at 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time. The Wolverines picked up a 3-2 win over LSU in Orem Thursday. Monday's game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus, with live stats on GoZags.com.
