Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Zag Volleyball continues to roll at home, sweeps Hawks

Spokane, Wash.- Gonzaga Volleyball secured a second straight victory at home, blowing away the UMES hawks in straight sets.

The Zags won by increasing margins as the game wore on, securing the first set 25-18 before allowing only 14 and 13 points in the final two sets. The real difference maker was in serving, where the Bulldogs notched seven aces. Raechelle Dykstra led the game in both aces and kills, with three and twelve, respectively. The Zags never trailed in the first set, establishing an advantage before closing out while in the lead for the entirety of the third set as well.

The Zags held the Hawks to negative attack percentages in the final two sets, forcing UMES to a vanishingly low total attack percentage of only .050%. GU had an attack percentage of .383%.

The Bulldogs have convincingly won two straight games and four out of the last five. They look to continue the streak when they finish out the Gonzaga Invitational against Montana State at 2 pm on Saturday. Montana State has gone to a fifth set in both of their games in Spokane, needing extra points in the fifth to win their game against UMES on Thursday night. It is impossible to determine how a game will end with the Bobcats even after two sets. They blew a 2-0 set lead on Thursday before regaining control in the fifth, and they dug out of a 2-0 deficit to defeat Cal State Bakersfield today.
