The Zags return home to play Utah Tech on Thursday, Aug. 27

SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga (0-1-1) faced #1 Washington (1-1-0) and fell with a final score of 4-0 on Sunday at Luger Field. Despite the loss, the Bulldogs had one shot on goal, while their goalkeeper recorded four saves across the match.

Washington opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a goal by Zach Ramsey. The Zags responded with attempts from Geremi Onentia and Perry Blay, shortly after. As the period progressed, Washington extended its lead through a goal by Harrison Bertos in the 36th minute, assisted by Connor Lofy. Despite Chema Preciado's efforts in goal, including a save against Zach Ramsey, Washington capitalized again with a penalty kick by Ramsey in the 43rd minute. The first half concluded with GU trailing 3-0.

The second half commenced with GU's defense making an early impact, as Preciado made a crucial save against Washington's Zack Meier in the 47th minute. Gonzaga's Morgan Olson attempted to capitalize on the momentum with a shot in the 49th minute, but it went wide. Despite the Zags' efforts, Washington broke through with a goal by Zach Ramsey, assisted by Kevin Hernandez, in the 64th minute.

Preciado recorded four saves for the Zags, facing 14 shots over 90 minutes. Perry Blay managed one shot, which was on target. Geremi Onentia added another shot to the tally, although it was not on goal. Morgan Olson contributed with one shot during the match.
