Gonzaga University Athletics

(2019-2020) Cross Country - Competed in a few races running a PR of 24:49 for 8k at the Inland Empire Championships in Lewiston, Idaho. 

Indoor- Competed at the Kibbie Dome twice and Dempsey Indoor once. Ran a 3000m PR at Dempsey in 8:31. 

Outdoor- Cancelled 

(2018-19) Cross Country - Competed in three meets throughout the season including the Clash of the Inland Northwest Invitational, Cougar Cross Country Classic, and Sasquatch Invite Indoor - Redshirted

Outdoor - Kicked off the season at the Buc Scoring Meet. Competed in the Steeplechase at the Sam Adams Classic, Mike Fanelli Track Classic, and WAR 12, where he took home the win. Had a breakthrough race in the Steeplechase at the Cardinal Classic running 9:11.38. Furthered his personal best in the Steeplechase to 9:09.29 at the West Coast Invitational.

High School:  Alex Walde hails from Coeur d’ Alene High School. A standout runner in Idaho, Alex boasted PRs of 4:24 for 1600m and 15:58 for 5k in XC. Walde also finished 14th at the Idaho state 5A XC championships.

Personal:  Walde is majoring in mechanical engineering as well as pursuing an applied math minor. He is also the Vice President of SAAC. He has one older brother named Ryan. Walde chose GU because “I thought it would be a great fit academically and athletically."
