SPOKANE, Wash. - Senior right-hander Steve Bennett (Helena, MT) was named the Rawlings / WCC Pitcher of the Week by the conference office following his solid performance against Washington State in the Bulldogs season opener. Bennett pitched six strong innings to pick up the victory as Gonzaga knocked off WSU 7-3. After allowing two runs in the opening frame, Bennett settled down and pitched five scoreless innings and finished the afternoon with seven strike outs. Bennett and the Bulldogs now prepare to head to Moraga, CA., for a non-WCC weekend series against Saint Mary's College.
