Gonzaga Infielder Named To Freshmen All-America Team

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University second baseman Eric Rodland was named as an honorable mention selection on "Louisville Slugger's" Freshmen All-America Baseball Team announced this week. Rodland is the second Gonzaga baseball player to receive post-season recognition this season joining outfielder Jared Hertz who was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America third team.
Rodland started 50 games at second base for the Bulldogs finishing the season with a .310 batting average, third best on the club. A native of Snohomish, Wash., Rodland had hitting streaks of 12 and 11 games during the season while driving home 21 runs and collecting 11 doubles. In early April, Rodland was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week after hitting .632 (12-for-19) over a four game period with a five-hit game against Lewis-Clark State.
Rodland joins five other West Coast Conference players on the All-America list. They include:
