Gonzaga Baseball Signs Two Left-Handed Pitchers

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University Baseball program continued its summer recruiting with the addition of two left-handed pitchers for the 2000-2001 season. Signing national letters of intent with the Bulldogs baseball program are high school pitchers Ed Clelland and Errol Simonitsch.
Ed Clelland comes to the Bulldogs after a stand out high school career at Arcadia High in California. This season Clelland posted an 8-0 record with a 1.53 earned run average and 79 strike outs. Behind the pitching of Clelland, Arcadia High finished the season 24-6 and ranked fifth in the final California State baseball poll. The 5-11 southpaw was a first team All-Conference and first team All-County selection.
Errol Simonitsch will join the Gonzaga program following a successful high school career at St. Francis High in La Canada, California. This season the southpaw from Glendale, CA., led his team with a 7-2 record and 2.52 earned run average. An imposing 6'-4", Simonitsch finished his season as a All-Conference and All-Orange County selection.
