GU Catcher Named Summer League MVP

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University catcher Sam Hess was named the most valuable player for the Pacific International League summer season league for college players.
Hess played for Kelowna during the regular summer season hitting .403 for 30 league games. He was also named the catcher on the All-League team. Hess joined the Everett team for competition at the National Baseball Congress World Series currently being played in Wichita, Kansas.
As a sophomore catcher at GU, Hess appeared in 26 games hitting .304 with seven RBI's. Prior to attending Gonzaga, Hess played one season at the College of Southern Idaho. A native of Colbert, WA., Hess was an All-Greater Spokane League selection during his high school days at Mead High.
