CHENEY, Wash. - Freshman Walker Loseno scored the first of four Gonzaga first half goals thirty minutes into the game as the Zags (2-3-0) blanked Eastern Washington (1-5-0), 5-0, on a rainy Sunday afternoon match at the EWU Sports & Rec. Center.
Loseno found the net for the first of her two goals on the afternoon as Megan Black assisted with a ball from the right hand corner of the goal box at the 29:51 mark. Black collected her second assist of the game on GU's next goal ten minutes later when she sent a ball into the goal box that senior Sara Streufert headed in net for her third goal of the season. The Zags added their third goal just over a minute later as senior Katie Carpenter headed home a ball on a cross from Ashley Lucey.
Walker Loseno capped off Gonzaga's first half scoring with just under a minute remaining in the half scoring from the top of the goal box off an assist from Katie Carpenter. It marked the second game this season that Loseno has netted two goals. The final goal of the afternoon came midway through the second period as Sara Streufert assisted on a header by freshman Katie O'Brien, to give Gonzaga three goals off headers for the game.
Tara Curtis and Gina Legaz combined to turn away seven Eastern Washington shots on goal to give Gonzaga it's second shutout of the season. Curtis started her fifth game of the season before giving way at the half to Legaz.
Gonzaga returns to action next weekend when the Zags travel to Southern Idaho to battle Idaho State and Boise State. The team returns for its next home match on Tuesday, Sept. 19, when Gonzaga hosts Portland State.
