SPOKANE, Wash. – Sophia Schlicklin signed a financial aid agreement to attend Gonzaga University and will join the women's soccer team for the 2026 season.

Schlicklin joins the Zags after two seasons at Southern Illinois. She was recently named SIU's first ever First-Team All-Conference member. As a sophomore she not only led the team in assists (5) and points (17), but was also tied for the team lead in goals with six. Additionally, Schlicklin set the program record for assists and points while tying the record for goals. And in the MVC, Schlicklin was top five in shots-on-goal (20), goals, assists, and is third in points.
In 2024, Schlicklin was named to the All-MVC Freshman Team. In her first collegiate season, she scored four goals and dished out one assist in 19 games, making her the second leading scorer for the Salukis. During the season she recorded a game-high two goals against North Alabama, which was tied for second in the MVC.
In high school, Schlicklin was awarded the Region Offensive Player of the Year in 2023 and 2024 and was a member of the regional team in 2023. She also ran track in high school, finishing third at Districts in the 100-meter. She was a member of her high school's record team in the 4x100m relay, that placed fourth at state in the 4x100m relay. Schlicklin played for Pheonix Rising FC ECNL in club soccer.
