Women's Soccer Drops Weekend Opener To USD 5-1

SPOKANE, Wash. - The University of San Diego Toreros scored four goals in the second half on their way to a 5-1 West Coast Conference women's soccer victory over the Gonzaga University Friday at Martin Field.

Torero senior Casey Loveland scored the only goal in the first-half at 27:38 on an assist from Brenna Mullen.

San Diego freshman Andrea Keesling opened second-half scoring with a goal at 54:15 on a high free kick past a wall of Gonzaga defenders.

Bulldog freshman Jessie Torres brought the Zags within one point at 55:52 when she scored on a drive from the right side. Torres became the second member of the Bulldogs squad to have scored on a West Coast Conference opponent this season.

Brenna Mullen pulled the Toreros ahead on a goal at 61:52 from cross pass from Katie Allen.

Hayley Robertson scored the fifth point in the last seconds on an assist from Jamie Gibson to ensure the Toreros victory.

The Toreros outshot the Bulldogs 20-6. San Diego goalkeeper Leila Duren tallied four saves, Gonzaga goalkeeper Brooke Longacre collected nine saves for the Zags.

The Bulldogs return to Martin Field Sunday to play University of Montana at 2 p.m.
