SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The 24th ranked Santa Clara Broncos (9-5, 2-1 WCC) opened with a flurry on Friday night as they swept by Gonzaga (3-10, 0-3 WCC) in three games at the Leavey Center. Santa Clara won the contest 30-14, 30-16 and 30-22.
Becky Potter paced the Bronco attack that compiled 47 kills on the night for a .290 hitting percentage. Gonzaga finished the contest with an even hitting percetage, registering 25 kills and 25 errors for a .000 hitting percentage. Christina Davis led the Zags attack with seven kills while Abby Cullen and Natasha Kozen finished with six kills each for Gonzaga.
Santa Clara dominated the match with Gonzaga grapping its lone lead of the contest early in the third game. Potter would finish with a double-double for the Broncos as they won their 13th straight meeting between the schools.
Gonzaga returns to action on Saturday night against San Francisco with a 7 p.m. start time set for Memorial Gym. Santa Clara will host Portland on Saturday night
