SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Gonzaga University kept its West Coast Conference men's soccer title hopes alive Friday night with a 2-0 victory over the University of San Francisco at Negoesco Stadium.

The Bulldogs (8-4-2, 3-1-1) got goals from Connor Quinn and Charles Rania and goalkeeper Mike McCarthy recorded the shutout despite the Bulldogs being outshot 12-4.

The Bulldogs got on the board on their first shot of the game at 31:08 when Connor Quinn snuck behind the Dons defense and beat Dons' goalkeeper Scott Spaulding one-on-one.

USF (7-7-1, 0-3 WCC) outshot Gonzaga 4-1 in the first half and 8-3 in the second but again Gonzaga made the most of its opportunities and scored when a clearance from goalkeeper Conor McNulty, who played the second half, struck the Zags' Rania and bounced into the net at 69:55.

The game was a physical contest, with the teams combining for 41 fouls and just 16 shots. Five yellow cards and two red cards were handed out. Gonzaga played shorthanded when Quinn was ejected at 71:51. USF's Robbie Adams was red carded at 87:10.

McCarthy made 5 saves to record the shutout, while the Dons' goalkeepers failed to make a save.

The Bulldogs will be idle until Nov. 16 when they travel to San Jose State University for a non-conference match, then conclude the regular season Nov. 18 at Saint Mary's College.
