Women's Basketball Tops Titans 89-48

SPOKANE, Wash. - Senior forward Jessica Malone collected a game-high 23 points Saturday night at the Kennel as the Gonzaga University women's basketball team (6-4) downed the Cal State Fullerton Titans (1-5) 89-48 in front of over 1,000 fans.

The fourth consecutive win marked the Bulldogs largest margin of victory over a NCAA Division I school in program history.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first five minutes established by 3-point shots from both Bernice Stime and Malone. The Zags led by as many as 18 points in the first half, shooting 50 percent from the field.

Malone finished with a season-high 23 points, connecting with 6-for-9 from 3-point range and recording 6 rebounds. Stime posted 11 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists.

Triana Allen and Anne Bickelhaupt each collected a season-high 10 points for the Zags. The entire lineup scored points for the Bulldogs, including Rikki Jackson who made her first appearance in a GU uniform this season.

Gonzaga amassed 43 rebounds led by Malone and Melanie Tipps with six boards each. The Bulldogs shot 49 percent from the field, 50 percent from 3-point range and 61 percent from the free-throw line.

The Bulldogs defense held all of the Titans players to single-digit scoring, completing four blocks and 15 steals.

Titan forward Heather Hansen finished with a team-high nine points and six rebounds followed by Washington State University transfer Tricia Lamb who collected seven points.

The Bulldogs play on the road for the remainder of the month facing Boise State University Dec. 14 and University of California-Riverside Dec. 31.
