Zags Baseball Places Four On PIL All-League Team

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University baseball team has placed four players on the All-Pacific International League team. John Gebbers and Eric Everson both earned first-team honors while Jeff Culpepper earned second-team honors and Brian Munhall was an honorable mention selection. The Pacific International League is one of the premier wood bat college leagues with teams based in Oregon, Washington and British Columbia.
Gebbers, a junior third baseman, hit .301 for the Bulldogs last season with six home runs and 28 RBI's. Gebbers (Brewster, WA) played for the Wenatchee Apple Sox with fellow first-team selection Everson (Spokane, WA). Everson, a sophomore pitcher, had five saves for the Bulldogs last season en route to earning honorable mention Freshman All-American honors.
Culpepper earned second team honors playing for the Everett Merchants, winners of the PIL Northern Division. A utility infielder during the summer, Culpepper (Woodinville, WA) redshirted for the Bulldogs last season.
Munhall played his second season for the Bend Elks after hitting .277 for the Bulldogs last season. A senior catcher/outfielder, Munhall (Spokane, WA) led the Gonzaga squad with 13 stolen bases.
Gonzaga finished the 2001 season with a 28-27 record losing in the West Coast Conference Championship game to Pepperdine University.
