Duke University (17-1) remained a unanimous No. 1 in the USA TODAY/ESPN Top 25 men's basketball poll this week, while Gonzaga University moved up four notches to 14th.
The Blue Devils received all 31 first place votes. The University of Kansas held second and the University of Maryland remained third. The poll was taken prior to Duke's Sunday victory over the University of Virginia.
Gonzaga (18-3), fresh off a weekend home sweep of the University of San Francisco and Saint Mary's College, matched its highest regular-season ranking in the USA TODAY/ESPN poll, the Bulldogs also 14th two week's ago prior to falling to 18th last week. Gonzaga plays a home-and-home series with the University of Portland this week, hosting the Pilots on Wednesday and heading to the Rose City for a Saturday re-match at the Chiles Center.
The University of Alabama made one of the biggest jumps in the poll, climbing from 14th to 8th on the stregnth of Saturday's road win at the University of Kentucky. The Wildcats slipped from 9th to 11th.
