Box Score

SAN FRANCISCO -

The University of San Francisco Lady Dons (8-7-1,1-4-0) held a 19-2 shot advantage in Sunday's West Coast Conference women's soccer action at Negoesco Stadium, but needed a game-winning goal from senior midfielder Kirsteen Buchan in the 80th minute to secure a 2-1 victory against the Gonzaga University Bulldogs (5-11-0, 0-5-0). The Dons earned their elusive first league match of the season against Gonzaga and pushed their overall record over .500.

Senior forward Caty Harris scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season to start things off at the 40:39 mark. Harris took advantage of a misplayed ball by the Zags' keeper and sent it into the right lower corner.

Heidi Jacobson and Jessie Torres each recorded a second-half shot for the Bulldogs. Eight Dons recorded at least one shot on goal, led by Harris with five.

USF put Gonzaga on the scoreboard with an own goal at the 65:51 mark before the Bulldogs had even recorded a single shot.

Junior goalkeeper Jennifer Orantes (6-4-1) earned the win and made a pair of saves. Ashley Haugen (5-10) suffered the loss for Gonzaga and recorded eight saves on 19 shots.

The Bulldogs cap their three-match road trip Thursday in non-conference action against the University of Idaho at 1 p.m.
