The University of Arizona held onto the top spot with 58 first-place votes, followed by the University of Kansas as the top two stayed the same. The University of Oklahoma's loss dropped the Sooners from third to seventh. The University of Texas is third, the University of Alabama fourth and the University of Pittsburgh fifth.
Gonzaga holds a 6-point edge over No. 22 Indiana University, the two teams flip-flopping from the pre-season poll. The two teams are in the same half of the bracket in Maui and could meet in the second round. Indiana opens the Maui Invitational against the University of Massachusetts.
