Bulldogs 8th In USA TODAY/ESPN Poll

MacLEAN, Vir. (SportsTicker) - Duke maintained its unanimous grip on No. 1, the top five spots remained unchanged and Bob Knight and Texas Tech were knocked out of the latest ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll released Sunday night.

Duke (22-1) posted easy Atlantic Coast Conference victories over Florida State and Georgia Tech last week and received all 30 first-place votes and 775 points from a panel of Division I coaches.

The Blue Devils have been ranked No. 1 in all but one week this season, losing the top spot after their lone loss to Florida State four weeks ago.

Kansas (21-2) and Maryland (18-3) remained second and third, respectively, followed by Oklahoma (19-3) and Cincinnati (22-2).

Texas Tech (16-6) suffered back-to-back defeats to Oklahoma State and Kansas and dropped out of the poll.

Florida (18-4) is sixth followed by Alabama (20-4), Gonzaga (22-3), Kentucky (16-6) and Arizona (17-6).

Gonzaga received its highest ranking ever in the poll, climbing two spots following road victories at Santa Clara and San Diego. The Bulldogs return home this week for Loyola Marymount on Thursday and Pepperdine on Saturday. Saturday's re-match is for first place, the Waves (10-0) winning the first meeting with the Bulldogs (9-1).

Miami (20-4) remained at No. 11 despite losing earlier Sunday at Boston College, 76-63.

Marquette (21-3) made the biggest jump in the poll, ascending 11 spots to No. 12 after beating East Carolina and Southern Mississippi.

Virginia (15-6) slipped five spots to No. 13 after losing by 17 points to North Carolina State on Wednesday. .

Stanford (15-6) made the second-biggest jump, rising six places to No. 14 after beating both Oregon and Oregon State.

Oklahoma State (18-6) is 15th followed by Pittsburgh (21-4), Wake Forest (17-7), Oregon (17-7), Illinois (17-7) and Ohio State (17-5).

Syracuse (18-7), Georgia (18-6), UCLA (16-7), Indiana (16-7) and Southern California (16-6) complete the poll.
