SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University head men's soccer coach Einar Thorarinsson has announced the addition of Mike Thompson and Tim Seely to his coaching staff.
Thompson, a native of nearby Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, is no stranger to Bulldog soccer. A 4-year performer for the Bulldogs from 1996-99, he earned All-West Coast Conference first-team honors in 1998 and was an honorable mention pick in 1999. The Bulldogs won back-to-back WCC co-championships in 1997 and '98. During his career he became the single-season and career assists leader for Gonzaga, marks which have since been broken. Thompson also served as a Bulldog assistant coach during the 2000 season.
Seely is a two-time All-Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) first-team selection. He played for Bellevue CC in 1994, helping the squad to the All-NWAACC title. After sitting out the 1995 season, he returned to his hometown in 1996 and attended the Community Colleges of Spokane where he again earned All-NWAACC accolades. He also played four seasons for the Spokane Shadow of the Premier Developmental League - 1995-96 and 1998-99 - and has also served as the technical director for the Shadow's U-12 to U-17 youth programs.
