Women's Soccer Shut Down by Defending National Champions

PORTLAND, Ore. - Wanda Rozwadowska scored two of University of Portland's four goals as the defending national champions shut out the Gonzaga University women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon. The 4-0 shutout improved Portland's record to 12-2 (1-0 WCC) and dropped Gonzaga to 8-5 (0-1 WCC).
The Pilots took an early lead as Kari Evans scored in the ninth minute from five yards out. Rozwadowska and Kristen Moore were credited with the assist for the 1-0 advantage.
Portland's Jennifer Tuttle scored her fourth goal of the season in the 35th minute from 19 yards out to give the Pilots a two-goal margin Lindsey Huie notched the assist.
With 12 seconds left in the first half, Rozwadowska headed in a ball from Angie Woznuk to put Portland up by three going into the second half.
The Pilots scored again in the 50th minute, with Rozwadowska's sixth goal of the season from Huie for the final score, 4-0.
Sophomore Gonzaga goalkeeper Ashley Haugen marked ten saves on the day, while Portland keepers Cori Alexander and Ruth Gilliam each had one.
The Bulldogs return to action as they host University of San Francisco on Friday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m.
