Oct. 26, 2003

MALIBU, Calif. - Junior midfielder Walker Loseno scored the lone goal in Gonzaga University women's soccer 1-0 upset over #11 Pepperdine University on Sunday afternoon. The win establishes a two-game West Coast Conference win streak for the Bulldogs, the longest in program history, and marks the first win for Gonzaga over a ranked opponent. The Bulldogs improved to 10-7 (2-3, WCC), while the Waves dropped to 12-5 (2-3 WCC).

Loseno scored early for Gonzaga, giving a 1-0 advantage at the 4:43 minute mark. Junior midfielder Sarah Hawkins was credited with the assist. The match remained scoreless for the rest of the game.

Reminiscent of Friday's lopsided shot tally (26-6, Loyola Marymount University), Pepperdine drastically outshot Gonzaga 23-5. The Waves also outnumbered the Bulldogs in corner kicks 7-1, and shots on goal 7-2.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Haugen recorded her fourth shutout of the season for Gonzaga with seven saves. Pepperdine's Anna Picarelli had one save for the game.

Gonzaga looks to continue its fortune on the road as they travel to face San Diego State University on Oct. 31, at 1 p.m.
