Zags get seventh win all-time over ranked foe
Â
The Zags (8-7-2, 3-3-0 Pac-12 Conference) also matched the program record for most goals scored against a ranked opponent. GU handed the Aggies their first conference loss and first setback since a 2-0 loss at No. 24 Colorado on Sept. 6. Utah State's only other loss this season came at No. 15 Kansas. USU entered the match allowing only nine goals this season.
Â
Sunday, Utah State outshot the hosts, 20-9, but held just a 6-5 edge in shots on goal. USU also had a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks and controlled 60 percent of possession. However, the GU defense held strong, and the offense took advantage of its opportunities.
Â
In the 18th minute, the Zags' Sophia Schlicklin chased down a long pass from Makayla Werner and fired a shot into the net for the opening goal. It was Schlicklin's second goal of the season and the 12th of her career. Werner recorded her third assist of the season.

The Aggies responded in the 41st minute when Solena Sellers struck a loose ball into the net from inside the box. Kate Christian was credited with the assist.
Â
Samantha Snorsky's goal in the 75th minute sealed the upset victory. Rasoul recorded her second assist of the match and the 10th of her career on the Zags' third goal.

Â
Following Sunday's conference results, Gonzaga sits alone in fourth place in the standings, one point ahead of three teams, with two games remaining in the regular season. The top four teams at the end of the regular season advance to the Pac-12 Tournament in Logan, Utah. The Zags visit third-place San Diego State on Friday before hosting Oregon State, currently eighth in the standings, in the regular-season finale on Nov. 5.

Gonzaga visits San Diego State (9-3-3, 3-1-2) on Friday at 7 p.m. The Aztecs cruised to a 4-1 home win over Fresno State on Sunday. Friday's match will be streamed live on YouTube, with live stats available at GoZags.com.
