Oct. 27, 2003

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Junior midfielder Sarah Hawkins scored two goals and had one assist during Gonzaga University's monumental weekend of women's soccer victories, and for her efforts she was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week.

Hawkins scored two goals in the Bulldogs' 4-0 victory over Loyola Marymount, their first WCC win in four years and inaugural WCC win on the road. The Salt Lake City, Utah, native also assisted the lone goal in Gonzaga's 1-0 shutout over 11th-ranked Pepperdine University, the school's first victory over a ranked opponent. Hawkins has tallied five goals and three assists for 13 points, leading the Bulldogs to their best overall and conference record in program history.

Sarah is second behind twin sister Annie in both goals and points.

Other milestones reached with the sweep in Los Angeles were inaugural back-to-back wins in WCC play, most goals scored in a WCC contest in the 4-0 win over LMU, inaugural shutout wins in league play and 10 wins in a season for the first time in program history.
