Baseball Adds Four More Players For Next Season

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University head baseball coach Mark Machtolf has announced the addition of four more players to wear the Gonzaga uniform during the 2005 season. Signing national letters of intent with Gonzaga are Jay Bryner, Brian Ouelette, Shawn Wayt and Matthew Wickswat.
Bryner, a left-handed pitcher, currently plays at Bellevue (WA) Community College where he helped guide BCC to a third place finish in the 2003 Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Northern Division. A relief pitcher at Bellevue, Bryner posted a 2-1 record with 3 saves and a 0.69 ERA. He was selected to the NWAACC Northern Division first-team and All-NWAACC second team.
Ouelette joins the Bulldogs as a right-handed pitcher from Kamiak (WA) High School. Ouelette was an All-Wesco South Division selection as a member of the Kamiak pitching staff.
Wayt is a two-way player at Westview High School in Portland, Ore., where he plays first base and serves as a right-handed pitcher. Wayt helped guide Westview to a fourth place finish in the Metro League as he earned All-Metro League honors.
Wickswat is a left-handed pitcher from Issaquah (WA) High School. He earned All-KingCo 3A honors as a junior while helping to lead Issaquah High to a third place finish in the Washington State 3A Baseball championships.
