Brian Ching Named To U.S. National Team

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Former Gonzaga University soccer standout Brian Ching was named to the U.S. National team roster for the July 11 men's soccer exhition game against Poland at Soldier Field in Chicago. This will be Ching's second stint on the national team after earning his first national team cap in May of 2003 as the USA squad defeated Wales, 2-0. Ching currently plays for the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League soccer and has come back strong in 2004 after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon on August 16, 2003. The Hawaii native currently leads the MLS in scoring with seven goals and one assist.

Ching was a four-year star at Gonzaga finishing his career as the Bulldogs assist leader with 23 and second on the points list with 91. He was drafted by Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2001 MLS draft and re-drafted by San Jose in 2003.
