PULLMAN, Wash. -The Gonzaga University women's tennis team closed out the Cougar Classic on Sunday playing in one singles match and the doubles matches that had been postponed due to bad weather in the Pullman, Wash. area in the previous days.

The only singles match that involved the Bulldogs was the No. 2 singles backdraw championship match in which freshman Sydney Lederhouse defeated Montana's Mari Castello, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6.

In the first round of doubles the Zags picked up three wins with the teams of Kendall Bates/Sirrah Williams and Angela Fry/Amanda Becker each advanceing on to the second round by default and the team of Lederhouse/Erin Humphrey defeated Montana State's Clark/Lozano, 8-7.

In the second round of doubles play Bates/Williams were defeated by Washington State's Sallai/Martinez, def. Lederhouse/Humphrey were defeated by Montana's Williams/Castello, 8-5. The team of Fry/Becker advanced on to the finals by defeating Idaho's Konishi/Leopold, 8-3.

In the finals the Bulldog tandem of Fry/Becker were defeated in the finals by Idaho's Nieuwoudt/Hubbard.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Oct. 9-10 as they travel to take part in the University of Montana's Tournament in Missoula, Mont.
