SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University senior goalkeeper Ashley Haugen became the first women's soccer player in the history of the program to earn a Soccer Buzz All-America honorable mention selection, it was announced Friday.
Haugen, who was named to the Soccer Buzz first-team All-West Region this past Tuesday and was a first-team All-West Coast Conference selection this season, caps off her record-setting season posting several Gonzaga single-season records including most shutouts with 11, fewest goals allowed with 15, two in WCC play, and goals against average of 0.72. Haugen completed her four-year career at Gonzaga as the career-leader in shutouts with 23, GAA of 1.36 and saves with 435.
Haugen was also a big part of the Bulldogs setting several program records this season. The Zags registered a program-first national ranking, reaching as high as No. 18 in the final Soccer Buzz Top-30 poll, registered the most single-season wins with 12, most consecutive wins with seven and tying the most WCC wins with three. The Bulldogs also made their inaugural appearance in the NCAA postseason after registering a third place finish in the WCC, also a program-best.
