LEWISTON, Idaho - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team recorded its first win of the season Saturday evening when they defeated Linfield College, 6-1.

The Bulldogs swept through the doubles round as the team of Angela Fry and Sirrah Williams defeated Linfield's Becca Johnson and Megan Rogers, 8-3. Sydney Lederhouse and Erin Humphrey teamed together to hand Kasey Kuenzli and Kelli Sides an 8-1 loss. GU's dominance continued in the third doubles match when Amanda Becker and Carrie Schofield defeated the team of Traci Sorensen and Michelle Arakaki, 8-4.

The Zags continued their momentum into the singles matches winning five out of the six matches. Becker got things started in the No. 1 spot as she defeated Johnson in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. In the No. 2 spot Fry defeated Kuenzli, 6-1, 6-1. Williams picked up a win in the No. 4 spot when she defeated Sides in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. Humphrey kept the winning feeling going as she picked up a win in the No. 5 spot defeating Sorensen, 6-1, 6-1. GU's last win of the match came in the No. 6 spot when Kimberly Aigner picked up a win over Arakaki 6-1, 6-2.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday when they compete against the University of Montana in a 4 p.m. match in Cheney, Wash.
