Zags Snap Three Match Losing Streak

CHENEY, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team snapped its three match losing streak with a 4-3 win over the University of Montana Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs were able to capture the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Dru Ernst and Reid Arthur defeated Gus Treyz and Colin Mascall 8-5 and Cooper Fratt teamed with Marco Pineda to hand Jim Strauch and Doug Shryock an 8-6 loss.

In singles play the teams each recorded three wins. Brett Womack picked up a win in the No. 2 spot when he defeated Varun Giri in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5. Arthur followed that win with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Treyz. GU's last win came in the No. 5 spot when Pineda downed Strauch in straight sets 6-4, 6-1.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Monday, March 7 in a 2 p.m. match against the University of California, San Diego.
