PORTLAND, Ore. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team lost to Saint Mary's College 5-2 on Saturday afternoon in Portland, Ore.

In doubles action, the Gaels team of Aude Lambert and Feline Charlot beat Gonzaga's senior duo of Angela Fry and Sirrah Williams, 8-6. The Bulldogs scored one win in doubles action when Kendall Bates and Amanda Becker handed the SMC tandem of Stef Ordoveza and Jessica Hoath a 8-2 loss. SMC's Kristin Kummer and Megan Schulman beat freshman Sydney Lederhouse and freshman Erin Humphrey, 8-4 to capture the doubles point for the Gaels.

In singles action, Lambert beat Becker, 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 spot and SMC's Kate Harden defeated Fry, 3-0 (retired) in the No. 2 spot. Gonzaga bounced back with two points in singles play when Lederhouse defeated Kummer in the No. 3 spot, 6-1, 7-5 and Bates handed Charlot a 7-5, 6-3 loss in the No. 4 spot. SMC's Schulman beat Williams 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 5 spot and in the No. 6 spot Humphrey was defeated by Ordoveza, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

Gonzaga returns to action on Saturday, February 12, when they face Lewis-Clark State College at 1 p.m. and Linfield College at 5 p.m. in Lewiston, Idaho.
