SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team recorded a 4-1 win over Montana State University Friday afternoon at Martin Courts.
Due to weather constraints the two teams agreed to play a 4-1 format which means there were four singles matches and one doubles match played.
The Bulldogs dominated the singles play winning three of the four matches. Angela Fry got things started for the Zags as she handed Nuria Lozano a 6-2, 6-3 loss in the No. 1 spot. In the No. 2 spot Amanda Becker downed Vera Vasileva in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 and in the No. 4 spot Sirrah Williams picked up GU's final singles win as she defeated Ivette Duran 6-1, 6-2.
In the lone doubles match of the day Sydney Lederhouse and Erin Humphrey defeated the team of Allison Fey and Kathy Clarke, 9-7.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday as they head to Pullman, Wash. to square off against Northwest rival Washington State University in a 2 p.m. match.
