LEWISTON, Idaho - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team was defeated by Pacific Northwest rival Washington State University 6-1 Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs lost the doubles point, but didn't go down without a fight. After dropping the first two doubles matches the team of Sydney Lederhouse and Erin Humphrey downed the Cougars tandem of Amy Toth and Kara Konomos, 8-3.
In singles play it was again Lederhouse providing the Bulldogs with a spark as she recorded the only win of the day in singles play for GU. Lederhouse defeated Konomos in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 6 spot.
The Bulldog women will take the courts again on Friday as they go to battle with Utah State University in a 9:30 a.m. match in Boise, Idaho.
