Zags Defeat Spartans, 5-2

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team recorded five singles wins to defeat San Jose State University 5-2 Tuesday afternoon.

After losing the doubles point to the Spartans, the Bulldog women dominated the singles play only losing one of the six matches. In the No. 2 spot Angela Fry picked up a win over Elke Harms, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Senior Sirrah Williams picked up a win in the No. 3 spot when she defeated Courtney Koenigsfeld, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, Erin Humphrey kept the momentum going when she downed Kathy Van, 0-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3 in the No 4 spot. Freshman Sydney Lederhouse then handed Ashley Tavita a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (5) loss in the No. 5 spot and Kimberly Aigner finished the domination with a 7-6 (2), 4-6, 6-3 win over Stephanie Irwin.

The Bulldog women will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to play the University of California, Santa Cruz in a 2 p.m. match.
