SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team made short work of their rivals from Eastern Washington University on Thursday afternoon as the Bulldogs picked up a 7-0 win to improve to 8-12 on the season. Gonzaga will host the University of Idaho on Sunday afternoon to conclude their regular-season. GU competes in the West Coast Conference Tournament next weekend.
Gonzaga won all six singles matches with senior Sirrah Williams picking up a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win over Kim Cabiling in No. 4 singles action. Amanda Becker (No. 2) and Sydney Lederhouse (No. 5) also collected relatively easy wins with Becker winning 6-2, 6-3 and Lederhouse closing out her match 6-1, 6-3. Only Kendall Bates playing at the No. 3 singles spot lost a set as Bates won the opening set 6-1 before Jennifer Jolley rallied to win the second at 6-1. Bates then closed out her foe from EWU with a 6-2 final set win.
In doubles action Gonzaga won at No.1 and No. 3 doubles action with the Eagles winning at No. 2.
