SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team won nearly every match against visiting Lewis-Clark State College on Saturday afternoon in a 6-1 victory.

The Bulldogs got off to a hot start as they swept through the doubles round when Angela Fry teamed up with Sirrah Williams for an 8-2 win over Jana Puzova and Maria Resende. Kendal Bates and Amanda Becker defeated Rachael Moorhead and Hephzi Segura, 8-2 and Sydney Lederhouse and Erin Humphrey defeated Carla Jones and Sonam Yangchen, 8-4.

The Bulldogs kept the momentum going heading into the singles play as Becker downed Resende in the No. 2 spot in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. Bates followed that win with a win of her own in the No. 3 spot when she defeated Segura, 6-3, 6-4. Williams picked up a win in the No. 4 spot with her 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 win over Khaliun Enkhjargal. Lederhouse then handed Jones a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 loss in the No. 5 spot and Humphrey completed the domination in singles play with her 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 win over Moorhead.

The Bulldog women will be back in action when they host nearby rival Eastern Washington University in a 3 p.m. match on Thursday at Martin Courts.
