SPARKS, Nev. - Mary Kate Morgan shot a second-round 74 on Tuesday to move into a tie for fifth, but the woes continued for the rest of the Gonzaga University women's golf team at the Wolf Pack Invitational.
Morgan stands at 155 heading into Wednesday's final round and is in a five-way logjam for fifth 10 strokes off the lead.
While Morgan recovered from an opening-round 81, no other Bulldog broke 80 Tuesday on the 6,241-yard, par 71 D'Andrea Golf Course.
Katie Street of Boise State University grabbed the top spot with a 72 on Tuesday for a 145, good for a four-stroke lead over Jenelle Gomez of San Jose State University.
SJSU golfers hold the three spots behind Street and the Spartans have a 36-hole score of 608 for a seemingly insurmountable 20-stroke lead over BSU heading into the final round. The Bulldogs slipped into last place in the 12-team field with a 36-hole score of 664 after Tuesday's 326. Gonzaga trails West Coast Conference foe University of Portland by one shot and Cal Poly by three strokes.
