Sept. 26, 2008

Box Score

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Washington State University Friday afternoon.

WSU (4-2-3) picked up the matches' lone goal on Mallory Fox's free kick from just inside the box at the 24:39 mark. Fox's shot went just wide of the Bulldog (4-6-0) wall of players and snuck into the right corner for the score.

Gonzaga had two great scoring chances early in the second half as freshman Sarah Rhodes and sophomore Sheridan Jones each had their shots turned away by WSU keeper Lindsay Parlee.

The Bulldogs had their late offensive rushes turned away as the Cougars held on for the 1-0 victory and improve its all-time record over the Bulldogs to 15-0-1.

Next up for the Zags is a home match against Eastern Washington University at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
