Spokane, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team opened its 2009 season with a 5-2 win over Lewis Clark State College at the Spokane Racquet Club Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs (1-0) played well early, taking all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match. In the singles matches, senior Stefan Feddersen and sophomore Conor Feeney each posted victories and freshmen Jake Davis and Tomasz Falkowski later earned their first career collegiate victories to give the Zags an opening-day win.
"We set the tone early today," said fourth-year head coach Peter MacDonald. "We had one of the best doubles performances that we have had here. Everybody played together and moved very well today."
Gonzaga will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. this weekend to match up with the University of Missouri-Kansas City, the University of Northern Colorado and Air Force.
