SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University moved in to the national rankings for the first time since 2006 this week, earning a No. 22 ranking in the latest Baseball America National Poll after two of three from #21 University of San Diego over the weekend. The Zags last appeared in a national poll back in February of 2006 receiving a No. 29 ranking by Collegiate Baseball.
The Bulldogs enter the week with a 23-10 overall record and 6-3 in the West Coast Conference after taking its third consecutive conference series in the past three weeks. Gonzaga has won its past two series against ranked opponents, taking two of three at #26 Pepperdine Apr. 3-5 and also against #21 University of San Diego in Spokane this past weekend. This season the Zags have appeared in the "receiving votes" category of the last three ESPN/USA Today national polls and have posted a 6-3 record against ranked teams.
The Bulldogs close out their six-game homestand with a non-conference match up against in-state rival Washington State University at the Patterson Baseball Complex and Washington Trust Field 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
