CHENEY, Wash. - Gonzaga University suffered a 7-0 defeat in a non-conference men's tennis match against Eastern Washington University Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs (6-13) battled a tough EWU squad throughout the afternoon, dropping two of the three doubles matches that could have been won by the Zags had a couple points gone in their favor. The freshmen pairing of Tomasz Falkowski and Jake Davis played well in their No. 3 doubles match but came short, 8-7.
Senior No. 1 singles player Stefan Feddersen played well in his match, forcing a third set with a 6-4 second set win but lost in the deciding set 1-0. The Zags leader in wins, freshman Jake Davis, also had his match to go three sets. After posting a 6-4 first set win, Art Karas was able to string a couple shots together in the final two sets to record the No. 4 singles win for the Eagles.
The Bulldogs close out the regular season with three home matches this weekend, hosting Seattle University 6 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday before closing out the weekend against Portland State University Sunday at 1 p.m.
