SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University (32-16) will close out its regular season 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night against Washington State University (28-22) at the Patterson Baseball Complex and Washington Trust Field. The Bulldogs enter the game fresh off claiming their first ever West Coast Conference regular season title this past weekend by taking two of three from Loyola Marymount University.
Tyson Van Winkle continues to pace the Zags offensive attack, leading the club in hitting (.360), hits (73) and doubles (23) and is second in RBI (51). Ryan Wiegand has driven in a team-high 53 runs, marking the second consecutive season he has produced more than 50 RBI.
The game with the Cougars is a makeup game from the rained out game on Apr. 28 in Spokane. Both teams have each claimed a victory against one another this season with WSU taking a Mar. 3 game 8-4 in Pullman and the Zags posting a 17-6 win Apr. 14 in Spokane.
Next up for the Bulldogs is the WCC Championship Series with LMU set for this weekend beginning 6:30 p.m. Friday and hosted by the Zags.The winner of the three-game series will receive an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
