Bulldogs Land Top Prospect Out Of Southern California

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University head men's tennis coach Peter MacDonald has announced that Levin Guillermo, one of the top college tennis prospects out of California, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Zags beginning this fall.
Guillermo, out of Rowland High School in Walnut, Calif. has posted a number of impressive wins while playing in a number of United States Tennis Association (USTA) tournaments over the past couple years. Currently ranked 21st in southern California as well as the 53rd best prospect in the country according to tennisrecruiting.net, Guillermo spurned offers from San Diego State University, UNLV, UC Davis, University of Portland and Ole Miss to play for the Bulldogs.
All within the last year, Guillermo posted wins over southern California's #2, #6, #11, #16 and #20 ranked players in the region. He has also recorded wins over a number of players that currently play for top level national programs. Guillermo posted a win over the nation's 9th ranked player to advance to the quarterfinals at the USTA National 18-under tournament this past December and later beat the Northwest Region's top ranked player while playing in the USTA Super National Tournament this past January.
"Levin is a very special player that plays with great mental toughness and has shown the ability to play with and beat some of the elite tennis players in the country," said MacDonald. "We are very excited to have a player of Levin's caliber join our team and we expect that he will make an immediate impact for us next season."
