LAST WEEK: Gonzaga University opened its 2009 season with a convincing 3-0 victory over the University of Montana at the Gonzaga Soccer Field this past Sunday. Lori Conrad led the way for the Bulldogs with a goal and an assist while Jessie Sorenson and Kelsey Werre each notched scores for the Zags who recorded all three goals in the first half en route to earning new head coach Amy Edwards her first win for the Zags. The win also marked the seventh consecutive victory for the Bulldogs over Montana.

LAST SEASON: Gonzaga University posted a 7-10-3 overall record last season including a 2-4-1 mark in West Coast Conference play. The Bulldogs played in a school record five double overtime matches, tied the school record with six overtime matches and faced seven opponents that went on to earn spots in the 2008 NCAA Tournament.

ABOUT THE McNEESE STATE COWGIRLS: McNeese State University comes into Friday's match with a 0-0-1 overall record in 2009 after playing to a 1-1 double overtime tie in their season-opener at the University of Louisiana - Lafayette last Friday. MSU returns 13 letterwinners from its 2008 squad that posted an 11-8-1 record. This will be the first ever meeting between the two programs. Last week, sophomore Jana Barrow scored the team's lone goal while sophomore keeper Cassandra Read made seven saves for the Cowgirls. Head coach Scooter Savoie is in his 11th season at MSU and owns a 69-99-19 career coaching mark at the school.

NOW ENTERING THE MATCH: Gonzaga University had 22 of its 26 active players appear in its season-opening victory over the University of Montana last Sunday. New head coach Amy Edwards has implemented a new style of play this season that will see the Zags consistently apply offensive pressure throughout the match, requiring a good amount of depth on the team in order to keep fresh legs on the field.

THE 2009 SCHEDULE: Gonzaga University is slated to match up with six teams that made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament a year ago along with playing four of its seven West Coast Conference matches on the road in 2009. As many as six of the Zags 2009 opponents appear in at least one of this week's national rankings.

TRIO OF ALL-WCC PERFORMERS RETURN IN 2009: Three Gonzaga University women's soccer players earned All-West Coast Conference honors last season. Sheridan Jones was named to the All-WCC first team, Lori Conrad and Courtney Peacock each received honorable mention and Peacock also earned a spot on the All-WCC freshman team.
