LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Troubles continued for the Gonzaga University women's volleyball team as it lost its 18th straight match Saturday. Loyola Marymount University defeated the Bulldogs 3-0 at Gersten Pavilion to drop GU's record to 2-20 overall and 0-6 in West Coast Conference play. The Zags, who last won on Aug. 28 against Cal State Bakersfield, fell 25-22, 25-11, 25-22 to the host Lions (12-8, 4-1 WCC).

Gonzaga, who was held to 27 kills in the match, was led by sophomore outside hitters Terran Poindexter and Jessie Genger with eight and six kills, respectively. Poindexter's eight kills was a season high in conference play for the Hesperia, Calif., native, while Genger, who also added five digs and a block, has now tallied a team-best 38 kills in league action.

Junior setter Denise Van de Mortel dished out 21 assists for Gonzaga as the Zags connected for a .108 hitting percentage. GU mishit 17 balls on the afternoon.

Loyola Marymount's offense was much more efficient than Gonzaga's as it finished with 20 more kills at 47, with only 12 errors, on 106 total attempts for a solid .330 attacking clip. LMU had three players finished in double-digits, including Jasmine Rankins with a match-high 13. Teammate Alyse Hensley added 12 kills and Felicia Arriola chipped in a double-double of 11 kills and 10 digs.

The Lions held the slight 37-33 edge in digs, while both teams closed out the match with eight blocks a piece.

Bulldog senior libero Allyson Powell finished with a match-high 10 digs and senior middle blocker Schylur Edelman and sophomore middle blocker Kylie Edinger both had three blocks.

Loyola Marymount was also hot from the service line, finishing with six service aces. Arriola had the Zags number, knocking in three.

Gonzaga closes out the first half of conference play next Saturday with a match at the University of Portland. Match is set to start at 1 p.m.
