EUGENE, Ore. - Rough water in the morning delayed the start of Gonzaga University's men's rowing dual with Oregon State University Saturday, the men not getting on the Dexter Reservoir water until 3:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs captured the Second Freshman 8+ in 6:47.62 to OSU's 6:48.04, the only victory of the day for Gonzaga.

The Beavers took the feature Varsity 8+ by six seconds over the Bulldogs, winning in 6:30.80 to the Zags 6:36.80.

"We came off clean and high to start the race off and had a three-seat lead going into the second 500 meters, but OSU handled the water conditions better," head coach Dan Gehn said. "The head winds and the wake created by the motor boats created rough conditions."

Gehn complimented OSU personnel for their efforts.

"Our hats are off to Oregon State. They did a great job in the regatta handling the conditions today," Gehn said. "All races were close across the board."
