Bulldog Women Tied For Ninth Entering Final Round

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Gonzaga University's women's golf team is tied for ninth at 625 after Monday's 36 holes of the Cowgirl Classic.

The Bulldogs shot 312-313 on a warm, windy day at Ocotillo Golf Club which is 6,108-yard, par 72 layout.

Jessica Howe had rounds of 78-76 for a 154 and a tie for 26th to lead the Bulldogs. She was closely followed by Rachel Sibbitt (77-78) at 155, Stephanie Corey (75-82) at 157 and Sage Suffecool (82-78) at 160.

"We had a rough start and never really recovered," Gonzaga head coach Brad Rickel said. "Stephanie had a good first round for us and Jessica and Rachel played steady."

The University of Texas-El Paso holds the team lead at 594 for a four-stroke edge over University of Nevada.

Stephanie Kim of Northern Arizona University and Lauren Howell of the University of Montana are tied for the 36-hole lead at 142. Kim shot 68-74 while Howell had rounds of 73-69.

The tournament concludes Tuesday with the final round.
