June 20, 2010

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Gonzaga University's Genavive "Genna" Dodge and Victoria Fallgren, who will begin their sophomore seasons for the Bulldogs this fall, will tee off Monday at the 34th United States Women's Amateur Public Links Championship to be played at The Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame on the University of Notre Dame campus.

Both golfers will also blog about their experiences. A link to their blog can be found on the main page of this website.

A field of 156 competitors will play 36 holes of stroke play Monday and Tuesday with the low 64 scorers advancing to match play. A 36-hole championship is scheduled for Saturday. This is the first time the WAPL will be played on a university or college owned golf course.

Fallgren will tee off at 9:40 a.m. Pacific Time and be paired with Kyung Kim of Chandler, Ariz., and Kelly Fuchik of Tulsa, Okla. A native of Lakewood, Calif., Fallgren finished in a four-way tie for third at 71 in the Chino Hills, Calif., sectional qualifying played at Los Serranos Golf & Country Club.

Dodge will tee off at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time and be paired with Samantha Formeck of Northern Cambria, Penn., and Emilie Burger of Hoschton, Geo. Dodge, from Post Falls, Idaho, didn't know until last week she would be playing after qualifying as an alternate. She shot a 74 and was one of two alternates in the Tacoma, Wash., sectional qualifier played at Meadow Park Golf Course.

Jennifer Song of Ann Arbor, Mich., is the defending champion.

The Warren Golf Course will be a par 71 layout at either 6,096 or 6,133 yards depending on the layout of the par 4 sixth hole which will play either 363 or 400 yards for the championship.

Fallgren and Dodge competed in the Championship Flight of the 80th annual Women's City Championship in Long Beach, Calif., which concluded Friday. The event is part of the Log Beach Golf Festival. Fallgren finished second at even-par 146, one shot off the lead, after identical rounds of 73. Dodge shot 80-86 for a 166 to finish in a tie for 36th.
