Complete Louisville Slugger All-America Release

TUSCON, Ariz. - Gonzaga University's Marco Gonzales has been named to the Louisville Slugger TPX All-America third team as a pitcher, as announced by Collegiate Baseball Thursday.

Gonzales, who was named West Coast Conference Co-Player of the Year, Co-Freshman of the Year, All-WCC and All-Freshman team selection Wednesday, becomes the eighth Zag to receive All-America accolades from Collegiate Baseball since Matt Fields in 2009. Gonzales finished his freshman campaign leading the WCC in wins (11) and second in strikeouts (90) behind teammate Ryan Carpenter.

The Fort Collins, Colo., native posted an 11-2 overall record, 6-0 in WCC play. He pitched four complete-games including three straight in the middle of the season. One of his best outings was this past Saturday where he struck out a career-high 12 batters in 8 2/3 innings to help the Bulldogs complete the 7-5 come-from-behind win against the University of San Francisco.
